Overview
Panaji, still widely called Panjim, is the small riverside capital of Goa and the most European feeling city in India. Its Latin Quarter of Fontainhas is a grid of ochre and indigo houses with oyster shell windows, overhanging balconies and Portuguese street names. The Mandovi river runs past casinos and fishing boats, and the beaches of North Goa are twenty minutes away.
